Spot

One evening driving home from work I was passing the dumpster and saw a sweet little black and white kitty that I thought was feral. I felt so bad for her, it was a couple of days before Christmas and this little feline angel was so hungry she was eating a potato. I stopped the car and coaxed her to me, my only thought that it was going to be below freezing this night and she needed a good meal, some clean water and a warm place to stay. I didn't think of my hubby who would probably have a fit and fall in it if I brought another cat into the house, I didn't think of the fact that we didn't have the money to take another cat to the vet to be speutered at this time and I didn't think of the fact that the Inn was almost to capacity. Also, the fact that I was without a kennel, a box or even a bag didn't deter me. I finally coaxed kitty to me and was able to hold her by the scruff of the neck until I had driven into our driveway and parked. I realized that I needed to call this kitty something, even though the story I was planning on telling my husband (and this was true at the time, I promise!) was that this was a rescue and I was going to find a home for her as soon as possible. Well, this particular kitty has a black spot on her nose, so I called her (I know, I know... how original of me...) Spot. Well, needless to say, Spot wasn't feral (I still have both my arms, thank you for asking) and at the time I found her eating her pre-Christmas Eve dinner of shrivelled potato she was also in heat. Well, somewhere between my calling every vet in the parish and asking if they speutered at a cut rate for rescuers and Spot lying on a blanket on the floor on her back and making pudding while she made eye contact with me, I fell in love with this precious little Christmas angel and she now has a home with people who love her. Every once in a while Ric mentions finding a home for Spot, but I just ignore him and he goes on to something else. Spot has been an official member of The Galloping Horde for quite a while now and we wouldn't have it any other way.
