We received a call from a woman who had a white cat hanging around her yard. She said she thought he had really bad ear mites, and she would like to help him if at all possible. Her husband had been kicking him, and had threatened to shoot him. We scurried around trying to find a foster home with some room to take this kitty, and we did. When he came into the Network, not only did the vet neuter him, but they also removed three bb's from his head and had to am amputate his ears due to severe infection ... so we named him Van Gogh. He is only about 1.5 years old and after all he's been through, he actually likes humans!
All he wanted was love and attention, and was rewarded with gun shots to his head and other physical abuse. Vinnie, as we call him, is safe now and is very affectionate when he realizes he is not going to be hurt --
understandably he is still very shy with strangers. He was back at the vet for a follow-up exam because what was left of his ears was getting infected again. They took a biopsy and Vinnie has a type of cancer that will probably be recurring.
UPDATE -- April 1997:
UPDATE -- March 1998:Van Gogh
White, Domestic Short Hair, Male
Date of Rescue: July 1995
Good news is that it has now been almost two years without a relapse. He would make someone a great pet who had patience to allow him to trust them.
Vinnie received a hand crocheted blanket as a present from one of his PAWTNERS! Below is his most recent photo from April of '98 on his blanket in a Cat Network KatKnapper, with his hand crocheted toy next to him! Thanks so much for this wonderful gift!

REASON FOR BEING IN PAWTNER PROGRAM:Cost of initial testing and surgeries and periodic preventive exams. Potential permanent foster cat.
A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
